Map of my heart and a new theme!!!

I did finish my journal page last night and here it is.  Did anyone else want to share the map of their heart?  For Valentine's Day my husband brought home a beautiful journal and pledged to
write back and forth with me for the next year! He's a keeper, that one!
For this week's theme I was influenced by our sudden dive into the world of Facebook! Lots of lists of favorites, funny name games and such are all over Facebook. I got tagged to write down the 25 most influential albums of my life. I had my hubby do it first because he has a brain like that.  So, this week's theme is The Soundtrack of Your LIFE. What music speaks to you personally? What song is YOUR SONG? What music brings back vivid memories of a time or place?  Do you play or write music? I can't wait to "hear" what you create in your journals.

Spirit Animal pages and A Map Of My Heart! Countdown to OWOH drawing!

Here are my journal pages for the spirit animal theme.  I couldn't choose only one! I know lots of people identify with butterflies and I TRIED to be more original. But I have doodled butterflies since I was a little girl. When someone close to me passes away, I often see big beautiful butterflies flying near me and it feels like a message.
This week's journal theme will be in honor of Valentine's Day. I challenge you to create a map of your heart.  Show in images, words, and symbols all the things you hold in your heart. What colors and designs do you imagine?  How do those compartments relate to each other?  I will be waiting to see all of your creative heart maps in your journals!
***** THE LAST DAY TO ENTER MY ONE WORLD ONE HEART DRAWING IS FEBRUARY 11TH AT MIDNIGHT PACIFIC STANDARD TIME.  I WILL DO THE DRAWING FEBRUARY 12TH AND NOTIFY THE WINNERS THAT EVENING AFTER DINNER. ****************

Comfort Dolls and Valentine image link

While I was checking out all the fabulous blogs participating in the One World One Heart event I came across the Comfort Doll project.  Artists are making small stuffed art dolls to donate to women's shelters across the country.  I think it's a wonderful idea and I tried to make a few this week.  My husband said they were frightening! I hope that's because he just doesn't get the art doll thing.  I will make some more and hopefully they will turn out better and I can send them to the project to be forwarded to a shelter.  I also came across a link to the free Valentine image a day countdown at  Ten Two Studios.  There are some really cool images to use and all you have to do is post a link to the site!

My Hopeful Heart !

I'm sorry this post is so late this week.  I just finished my pages last night and wanted to post them before I added the new theme.  Baby pictures always make me feel hopeful. I love modern baby pictures, retro baby pictures, and especially vintage cabinet card baby pictures.  Those fresh little faces are so full of promise and  the mysteries of the path ahead.  I adore how the babies were ALL dressed in ruffled, elaborate christening gowns.  The little boys wore dresses until they graduated to short pants.  I have not researched this, but it makes sense that with many babies it was economical to only have ONE style of baby clothes for boys and girls.  I suspect the MAIN reason for the dresses was for ease of diaper changing and potty training!  So, when I went to do my Hope pages I couldn't help thinking of my own precious baby faces.  My oldest will turn 22 this month and my "baby" is 14 1/2 and towers over me!  But the hope I have for them is ever present.  I hope that the work I have dedicated myself to for 20 plus years is a small ripple in the biggest pond.  I hope that I can still plant seeds of the love of reading, writing stories, poetry, making art, and expressing ideas.
This week's theme is  MY SPIRIT ANIMAL, what animal do you find yourself drawn to?
Do you feel like you would like to be a certain animal?  What traits or characterisitics do you admire or wish to have?  Make a journal page that tells the story of your spirit animal.
Please let me know when you've posted your page or want to share it here. I'd love to see what animal represents YOU!
