Crowded with Love!

I wanted to post about my birthday and I have this card hanging in my

bathroom/ art gallery. I was tickled last year when THREE people gave me the same birthday card. Isn't that cool? This year, my awesome friends at work sang to me and brought me presents. My husband Dave came home from a workshop in Lake Arrowhead with a bag filled with goodies. We went to see Todd Rundgren in concert and it rocked!

We discovered a wonderful artist, Paul Freeman, who opened for Todd.

I got lots of messages and birthday wishes from my friends ! I feel very blessed to have such a fabulous posse of family and friends who always make me feel loved!

Productive ART weekend!!

I really DO rotate my images, but sometimes when I save them they seem to like being sideways again.  I was having so much trouble uploading ANYTHING I am going to go ahead with this post. Please turn your head to look at the first 2 photos. I finished the first layout in my new Color Dreams journal last weekend and mailed it to NY. The paper doll page says,"Let your muse... and the second paper doll page says..."out to play".  The scan of the second page couldn't be uploaded at all and the book has started it's round robin journey, so you'll have to take my word for it.
This regal looking lady is an ATC I made for my PID SWAP yahoo group. I made 3 of these and I will get a bunch of ATCs back to see how other artists used the same image. All of the Paper Imagery Designs images are named and this one is Rosia.

My big accomplishment this weekend was designing, making and finishing  15  ATCs for my

Paula's Kit Club swap this month. The theme is Storybook and our latest kit has a forest/nature

focus.  I decided to use Winnie-The-Pooh in the 100-acre wood to merge the two themes.  I  used a Pooh quote on each card.  I hope none of the people in my swap mind that I went over the edges a little. I simply cannot help myself- I am just an over the edge kind of girl!

The last project I completed THIS weekend was this chipboard house page for my Mixed-Media Madams tip-in group.  I really like how this one turned out. The words on the roof are some of the  lyrics from the song, Home from The Wiz.  I will try and add it to my playlist so you can hear it and we can make this a multi-sensory experience!

Now I have to go and do my lesson plans for the upcoming week. I did complete a journal page and I will post that next.  I hope you all have a lovely week and squeeze in some ART time!

Finally some new art ... and a journal theme!

I have been  getting some art done this past week. I finished a set of 15 Marie Antionette ATCs for Paula's Kit Club swap.  I drew Marie  and totally got the idea from a painting my friend Julie Molina sent me.  Thanks for the inspiration , Julie!   The book cover is for a new journal round robin based on the True Colors book.  I used beeswax on the cover as a final step.  I am working on a few sewing projects that I will share when I finish.  On a nerdy note, my friends from work are planning to go see the American Idol tour in July.  A group of 15 women are going together- woohoo! Good nerdy fun!  Hmmm... maybe we can get a limo.

I'm Baaack from New York!

I made it back Tuesday night and went straight back to work while trying to adjust 

to the time difference.  We had a fabulous short trip and managed to squeeze lots of " touristy" stuff in as well as enjoying Jamison's showcase!  The weather was absolutely gorgeous and everyone was very friendly and helpful.  My son did a great job in his show and his entire class was phenomenal!   We spent a few hours at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and I will plan to spend an entire DAY next time I go.  We stayed in Times Square and the energy there is so electric and different from where we live.

I was determined to spend some time in Central Park and was delighted to find it better in every way than I had imagined. It was so well-cared for and sparklingly clean. It truly is an oasis in that crowded city and I would LOVE to have anything close to that here. I am hoping to catch my breath this weekend and get back to posting more often.

I want to wish my lovely cousin, Tina, a very happy birthday today! I made this collage for her birthday . But, being my usual habitually late self, she won't have it in her hands for a little while!   Luckily, I can post it on my blog and e-mail her the link!    I hope you have a fabulous day and that you feel loved because you ARE!

Helga's blog challenge

Hi everyone, I have been remiss in posting MY weekly art journal challenge, but I  promise to get back on track soon.  I did manage to do Helga's challenge this week and here it is!  I went to Suzi Blu's workshop last weekend and this week I have been frantically trying to finish up all my art obligations.  We are heading to New York City for a quick trip May 9-12.  My son will be performing in his SENIOR SHOWCASE!  This was his senior year at the University of Hartford

and I just discovered ( silent tear rolling sniff sniff) that he will be attending college for another semester.  Further proof that long-distance nagging is not very effective!  I have complete faith that I WILL be attending his graduation in December.  I will be posting new journal challenges when I return from The Big Apple.
